Welcome to the Institute for Design and Construction web site (formerly known as the Florida Institute for Safety and Construction). We are one of six centers and institutes under the College for Design and Social Inquiry here at Florida Atlantic University. Specifically we are housed under the School of Architecture and we are located at the Downtown Fort Lauderdale campus.
In 2008 we changed our name from the Florida Institute for Safety and Construction (FISC) to the Institute for Design and Construction (IDaC). This name change was made in an effort to be more inclusive of the allied design and construction trades. You can read more about the history of the Institute and the name change in the about us section.
The IDaC is committed to offering educational and training opportunities to students, professionals, and workers in the building industry. The areas of safety science, construction technology, construction management, and design allow for the inclusion of all allied professionals in the design and construction industries. Our mission reflects our efforts to be inclusive and comprehensive.
We have begun offering online classes in Construction Management, Leadership, and Contractor Exam Preparation. We also are successful in our offering of preparation courses for the Architect Registration Exam (ARE). We are continually looking for new classes and opportunies for the community.
I invite you to take a look at our website and the classes we offer. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.
