Welcome to the Institute for Design and Construction web site (formerly known as the Florida Institute for Safety and Construction). We are one of eight centers and institutes under the College of Architecture, Urban and Public Affairs here at Florida Atlantic University. Specifically we are housed under the School of Architecture and we are located at the Downtown Fort Lauderdale campus.

Recently we changed our name from the Florida Institute for Safety and Construction (FISC) to the Institute for Design and Construction (IDaC). This name change was made in an effort to be more inclusive of the allied design and construction trades. You can read more about the history of the Institute and the name change in the section entitled about us.

The IDaC is committed to offering educational and training opportunities to students, professionals, and workers in the building industry. The areas of safety science, construction technology, construction management, and design allow for the inclusion of all allied professionals in the design and construction industries. Our mission reflects our efforts to be inclusive and comprehensive.
