2015 Summer Institute
THE DEADLINE FOR THE JULY SESSION HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO JUNE 1ST AS LONG AS SPACE IS AVAILABLE!
For summer 2015 the Architecture Summer Institute will be offering two tracks on the FAU Boca Raton Campus. The sessions are scheduled for June 8-19, 2015 and July 13-24, 2015. The program will be open to rising sophomores, juniors or seniors in high school; recent high school graduates; and students in their first two years of college. All students with or without design background are welcome. This program is not for college credit but students will receive a certificate of completion at the end of the program.
Throughout the program, students will produce a variety of work that can be used as part of a portfolio when applying to colleges. Students will have the opportunity to display and participate in a final critique of their work. Enrollment is on a first-come, first served basis, space is limited.
The schedule is 9am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday. Participants will engage in space planning, drawing, and model building. Participants will also have the opportunity to take field trips to visit local architecture firms as well as the downtown Fort Lauderdale campus where the upper division architecture program is located. Interaction with faculty members and upper division architecture students help to provide a foundation for a memorable architectural school experience.
Registration Fee of $800 will be due with the application package. For early registration, payment of $800 and application materials must be received by
April 30, 2015 deadline extended for the July session, the new deadline is June 1st as long as space is available. Admission is on a first come first served basis. Submission of all of the items listed below including the fee will reserve your place in the program. Failure to make final payment by that date will result in a forfeit of your place in the program to the next person on the waiting list. After the early registration deadline applications and payments will still be accepted if space is available. The total price will include all necessary materials and transportation costs for the field trips. Students should either bring their lunch or they may purchase something at the FAU Breezeway Food Court.

- Letter of Intent (100 to 150 words)
- Letter of Recommendation from your high school guidance counselor, teacher, or architecture professional
- Unofficial high school or college transcripts
- $800 fee

Payments can be made through our secure server online. You can pay one of two ways: credit card or electronic check. Go to Registration Page and fill out the information and put in class code for the session you are interested in: A0202001 for the June track or A0202002 for the July track. For those wanting to experience life on a college campus, on campus housing is available for both sessions. The cost is $500 for the two weeks and payment must be made no later than April 30, 2015. This includes “linens” which consist of sheets, bath towel, hand towel, washcloth, and soap. You are of course welcome to bring your own things and you must bring your own pillow. You will also have an opportunity to bring a small fridge, details will be available later. Due to the housing contract no late on campus registrants will be accepted. The housing fee is non-refundable after April 30, 2015.
At this time there is not a meal plan in place, however, there may be something available as the date approaches. More details will be available in the future.
