2012 Summer Institute

Application Deadline extended to May 25, 2012

Overview

The Summer Institute will be on the FAU Boca Raton Campus and will begin on July 16, 2012 and end on July 27, 2012. The program will be open to rising juniors or seniors in high school; recent high school graduates; and students in their first two years of college. All students with or without design background are welcome. This program is not for college credit but students will receive a certificate of completion at the end of the program.

Throughout the program, students will produce a variety of work that can be used as part of a portfolio when applying to colleges. Students will have the opportunity to display and participate in a final critique of their work. Enrollment is on a first-come, first served basis, space is limited.

 

Daily Schedule

Students will meet from 9am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday for two weeks from July 16, 2012 to July 27, 2012.

Drawing/Sketching

Noon to 1pm

Lunch

1pm to 2pm

Workshop to develop skills

2pm to 4pm

Studio/Model Building

4pm to 4:30pm

End of Day Pin-Up

Students will also have the opportunity to take field trips to visit local architects as well as the downtown Fort Lauderdale campus where the upper division architecture program is located.

Fees

Registration Fee of $800 will be due with the application package. The application deadline has been extended to May 25, 2012. The total price will include all necessary materials and transportation costs for the field trips. Students should either bring their lunch or they may purchase something at the FAU Breezeway Food Court.

Late Registration will be permitted only if space permits. Late registration will be $900 after May 25, 2012.

Application Information

The application package should include:

  • FAU School of Architecture 2012 Summer Institute Application
  • Letter of Intent (100 to 150 words)
  • Letter of Recommendation from your high school guidance counselor, teacher, or architecture professional
  • Unofficial high school or college transcripts

The deadline for application and full payment is May 25, 2012. Submission of all of these items including the fee will reserve your place in the program. Failure to make final payment by will result in a forfeit of your place in the program to the next person on the waiting list.
